Today we attended the final presentation and defense of Daan van Loenen, who completed his graduation project with Komercon over the past months. His research focused on converting end-of-life railway sleepers into biocarbon—a topic that fits squarely within our mission to accelerate the use of sustainable raw materials.
Project focus
Daan explored whether and how discarded sleepers can be transformed into a valuable carbon product suitable for industrial applications. The work examined technical feasibility, environmental considerations, and potential supply-chain implications.
We thank Daan for his dedication and fresh perspective. It was a pleasure having him on the team. We wish him every success on his upcoming trip and in the next steps of his career.
